Just Desserts

One night I wanted to cook
A recipe from a book
When outside there stood a crook
Who started to take a look

That's when he tried to enter
But I was left of center
I learned from a renter
Who acted as a mentor

In order to not be found
Could not make a single sound
I wanted to stick around
And not end up in the ground

So a game of cat and mouse
Began throughout the whole house
I'm not one to sit and grouse
This guy really was a louse

Although it's been awhile
There's no need for a trial
I can sit back and smile
His bones are in a pile!
