Just Passing By

11:59 am is when I first heard about it
From The New York Times, Medical News Today, and my parents.
I was still in my Chemistry lab coat
how it will end quickly.
Little did I know,
3 weeks,
3 months,
And all of my favorite holidays
Have passed.
Along with millions of strangers that I didn’t know.
But I cried with every single family
At the dinner table.
With our masks on of course.
What have I been up to they ask?
Started memorizing the patterns on my walls.
I know how many breaths I take a minute.
And my hands are a map of lines.
What have you been up to?
More than nothing for sure
11:59 pm hopefully is the expiration date
To our nightmare.
