That quiet look
that impish smile
you throw my way
once in a while
wipes away
the years of strain
watching you
fight thru your pain
wiping sweat
from off your face
while keeping a
rhythmic breathing pace
joyous laughter
ringing thru
the birth of one child
then of two.
Helping our children
find the joy
of surpassing their limits
both girl and boy.
helping kids and me
settle down
as each new job
moves us town to town.
now looking for a place
to settle into a quieter pace
of watching our children
from afar
and always wondering
how they are.
