Keep Still Now

Lonely autumn woods, keep still now.
A girl is walking among you.
She keeps her head held low, downcast,
Finding comfort in your silence.

Leaves amber and critters sound asleep,
Lonely autumn woods, keep still now.
The girl rests beneath a towering tree;
She buries her head in her arms.

Gentle breeze caresses her skin,
Subtle aroma of crisp pine,
Lonely autumn woods, keep still now.
The girl's shoulders begin to shake.

She shivers as chilly night falls,
But no one comes looking for her.
This forest makes her feel safe, home.
Lonely autumn woods, keep still now.
