Know to Love
If to truly love, you must first come to know,
With fullness of mind, intellect, and heart,
One’s every intimate aspect and part,
May my acquaintance of you ever grow.
Splendorous as the night sky of Van Gogh,
Is the sight of you, God’s dear work of art;
I wish to see all that sets you apart,
So true and pure love to you I may show.
Let me see all that which composes you,
The depths of your heart and thoughts in your mind,
Your flaws, struggles, and what causes you strife,
Your every dream, and all that you hold true;
To know you completely, and love in kind
I will gladly spend the rest of my life.
With fullness of mind, intellect, and heart,
One’s every intimate aspect and part,
May my acquaintance of you ever grow.
Splendorous as the night sky of Van Gogh,
Is the sight of you, God’s dear work of art;
I wish to see all that sets you apart,
So true and pure love to you I may show.
Let me see all that which composes you,
The depths of your heart and thoughts in your mind,
Your flaws, struggles, and what causes you strife,
Your every dream, and all that you hold true;
To know you completely, and love in kind
I will gladly spend the rest of my life.
