Lakeside Season

Winter comes and spreads its wings for another season
Pounding down its light fury, keeping its victims down
Letting them up for a day or two, then tightening back up
Keeping some locked inside, shivering, aging
But at the moment, the lake's power is diminished greatly
Nothing more than an iced over plane of snow
The lake awaits as days bring more sunlight
Winter leaves and Springs hope
Shades of sunlight brighten the aftermath of its predecessor
Yet all know what is about to become
Unleashed, waiting patiently under thawing ice
Some days more than others
Frigid transitions to debris
Cleansed and warming
Spring warms into Summertime
Longer days, longer thoughts
Thoughts of expansion, making the most
Mostly, above average temperatures
Longer storms, longer crests
Crashing violently at roadside
Swallowing small vessels and weak hearts
Shades of color emerging
Summer dances into Fall
Recollection, Remembrance, Reflections
Green at its most colorful before its yearly escape
Lakeside sights see flat waters calming down before
Being trapped in time, for a time
Last minute preparations before frigid flight returns.
