Lamenting the Lost

Our nation seems to abound,
in refugees from all around.
Stepping in like a Messiah,
the Citizenship Act in its remoulded form,
strove to give them protection,
and membership to the nation.

Many a Muslim disowned,
both refugee and the land’s own.
Sparked off riots and dissent profound,
killing some and maiming the rest,
devoured by the fire,
of social unrest.

Alas ! the Messiah felt no regret,
Watching secularism bleed to its death.
