Languish in Obscurity

Running in every direction
But headed nowhere fast,
Every minute I spend is a waste of my time.
Caught in a rat race with no end in sight;
How will I ever survive this fight?
The trains roll past,
Headed down the tracks.
"Take me with you!" I exclaim,
But, in my throat, my screams catch.
I feel like a bird that's lost its flight,
Tied to the earth longing always for the sky.
Somebody help me make this right,
So I can kiss this life goodbye.
It's like I'm lost in an endless maze,
A labyrinth of monotony and dread.
I've got to escape from this mind-numbing haze,
Before it sucks me dry and I'm dead.
