Last Straw

What was the last straw?

When you refused to look at me
When I let the thunder break the silence
When you told me I was but a useless flee
When I realized how right you were, that I couldn’t bring down a tyrant

When you hit me
When I felt blood running down my cheek
When you didn’t apologize
When I left the café and for once, I let myself cry

When you held the door open for me
When I stood atop the barricade
When you scowled and barked to get down or I’d pay the fee
When I picked up a barrel and a torch who’s flame swayed

When you started screaming my name

I lit the fuse when Marius wouldn’t.
I caused the failure of the June Rebellion.
I single-handedly proved my use:

I made our inevitable deaths painless.
