Lasting Love

This love was meant to last.
I'll keep trying, my heart is going way too fast.
I will stop the crying, every time I see your face.
I start to regret.
My heart starts to race; can I just go back and reset?
You're my escape; I wonder if it's fate.
My heart can only paint a landscape.
I just hope it's not too late.

My name is Kali Henke and I'm 17 years old. I would like to thank my family and teachers for pushing me to continue to write. I would also like to dedicate this poem to all the men and women who have fought for this country.
