Leaves & Birds

For a breath the leaves are birds
Soaring free on invisible currents,
Glorious flight of twirling grace,
Close your eyes and feel the rush:
The pulse of life all coloured bright,
Warm sunlight on the outstretched wing,
High on the open air they sing
For a breath, but only for a breath
Until the breeze releases us
And never there, the feathers fall
And the leaf is just another leaf
