Let It Be Today

Let me go outside today
I'd like to taste the mist
I've got plans with the sky
And I'm owed the sun's sweet kiss

Let me go outside today
I've a part in the birds' matinee
A luncheon with the fuchsia flowers
And I'm to be in the saplings' parade

Let me go outside today
The wind is whimpering my name
The rain is falling in child's protest
That inside I would dare to stay

Let me go outside today
This room shrinks smaller still
At the sight of me, the windows groan
And force in all the chill

Let me go outside today
The money should make itself
Permit the world to excuse me now
As I go to meet my earthly self

Let me go outside today
Come join me, love, and see
The forest is saving a place for us
And all this noise, we can flee
