Let Me Hold Your Heart

I watch your world crumble around you
As I gaze into your eyes
The fire that burns inside them
Fades to a flicker of it's former glow
Embers of your soul fall around me
Ashes at my feet
I try to sweep them away but they remain
I hold you and your skin breathes out to me
Shallower than I've ever seen
I'll be your breath since you can't be your own
Shadows of tears are hidden in those eyes
I bet their drops would feel like fire on my skin
Your pain is unbearable and you can't understand why
Everything is pointless
The world is nothing but a black void,
Swirling around you
But I stand there with you
I'll step into that void so you are not alone
I'll cover myself in the soot
From the ashes of your soul
My world will crumble too.
Through this agonizing moment
You will emerge truly free.
Do not be afraid.
I will hold your heart until you can hold it once again
