Letter to Music

You are simply interrupted silence
with a beat and a tune.
There is no need for violence.
You come in all different shapes and sizes
for all your notes
are rather surprises.
To the common man,
it all sounds the same;
for a true musician
always knows your name.
With a gentle press of a key
your colors are limitless,
you are the heart of the sea.
With every breath you take,
oh what beautiful sounds you make.
Like roses in the springtime
and leaves in the fall;
you are constantly changing
with the rest of us all.
For time is unknown to mankind
while the world keeps on spinning,
you could get left behind.
So I take this opportunity to write to you,
for you are my inspiration;
the father of the old and the new.
