Liberation

My
Heart was
A canvas
But you painted
Me full of flaws instead of flowers

Your paintbrush no longer sheltered me from
The world so I
Went out and
Bought my
Own

I
Wanted
To veer off
The road you paved
Lined with edginess and half-dead dreamers

So I painted flowers instead of flaws
Liberated
Myself from
Half-dead
You
