Life Goes On

Life full of crime
So young, how could it be your time?
Only fourteen years old and at your waist is a nine.
Ready to take life at the drop of a dime.
But life goes on.

You're sixteen now
Your first baby is on the way
Seems like you were just a baby yesterday.
With the life you live will you be able to stay?
Your child may grow up without a dad some day.
But life goes on.

You're eighteen now
You and a guy scream and shout
You turn to run but then, pow!
Fall to your knees, your lights go dim now
Your two-year-old daughter is now a fatherless child.
But life goes on.

Did you fall victim to the streets?
Well, that is what it seems.
Feels like only yesterday you were a kid chasing a dream
All you ever wanted was to be a baller like Kareem.
But life goes on.
