Life Lessons

Sometimes life is unfair
We've heard it all before
Emotionally drowned by negative currents
Trapped behind a rusty old door

Sometimes life gets tough
We've been through it once or twice
Dragged over a callous cactus spine
Bare skin on winter's cold ice

Sometimes life is selfish
We've been victims of this crime
Souls of loved ones suddenly stolen
As we weep and beg for more time

Sometimes life is crazy
We've lived and learned to believe
Tough times bring us closer
But we still hurt as much as we breathe

Sometimes life is deceiving
We've felt this several times
Falling in love to watch it die
Hearts cry in the arms of mute mimes

Sometimes life is ugly
We've witnessed this to hold true
Saints siding with devilish demons
How has this life captured you?
