Life of Her Own

Many years have passed
since I was brought onto this Earth,
and still no closer to understanding
what went wrong during my birth.

My body formed as a man,
but my mind says otherwise;
getting ignored so often
as others seek her demise.

I can't give up control
whilst I have none to care for me,
and I'm stuck putting her back
to survive in modern society.

I have lived for so long,
and now I have become grown,
but the newborn girl in my mind
needs to be given a life of her own.
