Life, Then and Now

I think I probably should have lived
a hundred years ago
when life happened face to face and
people didn't move so fast.
When it was easier to appreciate yourself
because the only world you knew
was the one you encountered at your fingertips,
and that world was not quite so big.

Yes, I probably should have been here
a hundred years ago
When dancing was classy and dating even more so
When books and crafts were in vogue instead of
screens and screens and screens...

Was the only thing that changed us the passage of time?
Developments, technology, expanding all our minds
Everything is growing, shifting, accelerating

I would rather take it at a leisurely stroll
