Life Unplanned

You're sitting on the couch with the same beer bottle in your hand
Early 40's still trying to figure out your life plan
The whites in your eyes are red
Maybe it's from the sleepless nights in bed
Or maybe it's from realizing how the mistakes from your past
All came together and clashed
You look around your small apartment,
Thought you'd be somewhere by now
Well that was the thought before life flipped upside down
But you validate it in your mind
Making it seem like less of a crime
That you had four kids, but never had a spouse
4 kids without a father figure in the house
So you try to find your happiness with different women
But it never feels the space
It still feels so cold, like something never took place
So you take out a cigarette and smoke it
Till life gets decent in your mind
Just wasting your time
But that's ok because you've always been a runner
Running when life gets hard
And then everything just seems so dark
Blaming everyone but yourself
On your lack of good judgment and wealth
So here you are with the same beer bottle in your hand
Early 40's still trying to figure out your life plan
