Lifeline

Sunlight creeps in
Through cracked windows
But otherwise
I’m drowning in darkness
Alone in this box I call a home
My couch is soft
A comfort after long days
It’s buried in the darkness too
We share that particular trait
We’ve both seen better days
But that’s okay
We hang onto the light
A lifeline out of the darkness in which we bathe
