Light Within

Looking outside, onto the world,
I realize that it is in chaos.
The Hope for Tomorrow is shattered,
And dreams belong to the deluded.

But I found light amidst the sheer darkness.
I found it within myself.
I tried to embrace it, expand it.
But the murky darkness around it
Made it dwindle.

I fought with all my strength against it.
Soon, I felt weak and gave up.
Like any other weakling.

Sometimes, I wonder if I ceded early;
Maybe if I had given the light another chance,
If I had embraced it further,
It would've shone brighter than the Sun.
