Lightest Shadows

Treat your shadow more with kindness
Let her rest from time to time
Must she be so busy, mindless?

She spends all day in tortured blindness
Resting hard on restless surface
Treat your shadow with more kindness

Give her just a moment of lightness
Twirl for a time in the sun
Must she be so busy, mindless?

Don’t trap her in the cold hard dryness
Stuck on rough cement and metal
Treat your shadow with more kindness

Your shadow is your best-found likeness
She is you in two dimensions
Must she be so busy, mindless?

You are her and she is you
Spend some time, relax, renew
Treat your shadow with more kindness
Must she be so busy, mindless
