Lily in My Valley
I am grieved because of my affliction:
prayer has fled from heart and mind,
my thoughts move swiftly to and fro,
searching from my Lord a sign.
Sadness overtakes me in my affliction,
my heart pangs for freedom from pain,
my pleas seem to go unheard,
my heart has failed me thus far twain.
Hope no more shines in my eyes
for tears have taken its place;
I cry Lord, Lord! Come to my rescue,
please Lord, come with haste.
Then I remember the words of my Lord:
Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray,
Lord I need you in my affliction;
yours Lord is the perfect way.
You're my lily in my valley,
my bright and morning star;
you promised to never leave me
nor forsake me even in part.
While on my knees in earnest prayer
in my eyes a glimmer of hope shines;
many are the afflictions of the righteous
but God will deliver from all that binds.
