Limbo

I'm stuck in time, held in suspense,
Over arrows that point
In opposite directions.
One says, "Live"
The other, "Survive".
They have the same definition:
"To stay alive."
So what's the difference?

To live is to succeed,
To do the things one loves to do,
To live comfortably without any worries.
That is the true meaning of the word.
Surviving is to just get by another day.
But how was I supposed to know the difference,
Or even know that there was a difference,
When I've been told all my life
That I was too young to know?
Too young to understand?
I'm only just now realizing.

Now I'm stuck in limbo,
A place where lost souls wander.
The only difference is that I,
To the best of my knowledge,
Am still alive,
And unlike the lucky dead,
I do not have time to ponder.
