Little Broken Heart

By Riesa    Riesa

Hush, little heart, don't you cry.
When you know that no one will love you.
You know this is true, and yet you still try.
How could you even try when you can't be true?

Hush, little heart, don't you scream.
When you know that no one will listen.
If no one listens, why think that it's just a dream?
Why even scream when you know you're distant.

Hush, little heart, don't you hurt.
When you know that no one will care.
Why even care about love when it's curt?
Love is just selfish who rarely gives a share.

Hush, little heart, don't you fall apart.
When you know that no one will miss you at all.
You know this is true when they don't have a heart.
When you know this, why take the fall?

Hush, little heart, don't you die.
When you know that you are the one that's broken.
You know that just by the way you lie.
You think that love will find you? You are mistaken.

'Cause love is just a never ending cycle of pain...

This Poems Story

This poem came about when I experienced heartbreak my sophomore year of high school. It is about depression questioning the heart why attempt to find love when it seems like no one loves them, especially with the way they hide their pain. Throughout the poem, you can see the heart crumbling deeper and deeper into depression as the poor little heart holds in all the pain inside. The poem is set up almost like a little lullaby or a nursery rhyme.
