Little Girl

A little girl on the playground
Daddy pushes the swing
“Higher, higher,” her laughter sings
Soar above, and don’t look down
You’re not afraid to hit the ground
They’re so easy, these dreams of yours
Think them once, your little heart soars
You know the future is blinding bright
Your hope alone can bring new heights
Years later, you walk, head low
Too afraid of what’s down below
Don’t look up, your hopes might fly
Sometimes it’s better to fail to try
What happened to this world of dreams
Had so much life, now vacant, it seems
No excitement for the future
You’re on a dark path
Everything you took for granted
You want it all back
These moment on the swing
As small as they seem
Will mean the world now
But they’re only in dreams
