Little Souls, Little Hearts

Free as the wind,
Soaring to the sky,
Their little arms flailing,
As gracefully as ballerinas.
Worry-free like a sloth in a zoo,
Eating, sleeping and playing.
The basic human rights,
which are quickly taken away,
by society, parents and authorities.
Energy given by popsicles,
Laughter from a simple gesture,
Their little heart floating in their chest.
Unknown to the taste of coffee,
Demanding more chocolate,
The bubble looking strong,
Their shell slowly chipping away.

Remain as young as you can,
before the monsters under your bed,
Come live inside your head.
