Little Star

Leap from the hunter’s belt
Into the warmth of night, falls
Little star of condemnation
By a foreign noose, upheld
Starry-eyed decoration

Strangled inhalation
Drawn without breath
A strung-up rag-doll
Stained with validation
Is vacant ornamentation

Forever gasping
Eternally grasping
Strained articulation

By a starlight revelation
A climb of imitation
Upon the southern cross
Is an ideal prism
Of nature’s loss

A stargazing culmination
Starring tribulation
The standard of demonstration

But a staring congregation
Asleep in the dark
Is the starkest illustration
Of voided illumination
An absentee spark

A starless generation
In star-struck desperation
Is starving adoration
Living murder
Of selfless immolation

Scarring humiliation
Shields this heart
Adoptive death
Erases my part
A startling amputation

The struggle for annihilation
I must concede
With vigorous resignation

Assume this life
A striking assimilation
Consume this face
A sparkling transformation
As we proceed
