Lone Pup

Snoring, whimpering,
Whining, moaning.

A little fuzz ball roams the streets
With nothing but his own four feet.

Dawdling, crying,
Limping, spying.

Sleeping in a trash can,
Lying on the street,
Staying up 'til midnight
In the rain or sleet.

Stumbling, rolling,
Fumbling, strolling.

Waiting for the man
Who picks us up and never returns us.

Sniffs, moans,
Scoffs, groans.

Just waiting,
For someone to play.
Just hoping,
It will happen someday.
