Look Behind these Glassy Eyes

Why even try to get back up,
When you know your heart has given up?
I can't tell you I'm okay,
Without the look of a lie upon my face.
There are no words to describe
This type of misery.
Only, countless, painful, unforgiving memories.
This front I wear so tightly
Is only near skin deep.
I can't tell you I'll be okay
Without becoming my own worst enemy.
I'm battered, bruised, and torn apart.
These scars I bare lead to this old, abandoned heart.
I'll paint on this smile,
Mile after mile.
While my hands grasp onto that porcelain hollow;
The pain you give me,
I'll pretend it's fine and try to swallow.
