Losing Arianna

I had peered into eyes sent from above,
though so new to mine, still worthy of trust.
I hope perhaps I’ll be gifted with love;
my hourglass heart still filling with dust.
I’ve been uplifted for one afternoon,
my soul invigorated by her voice.
If I could stay for just one moon,
our spirits entwined would be her first choice.
As I ponder the day after we meet,
I do not sense my grand dreams abiding.
My hopes like cowards retreat in defeat,
fleeting courage comfortably hiding.
I'll bask in that day of undying bliss;
Sweet Arianna I truly will miss.
