Loss of a love

Standing outside, my tears falling with the rain
Which can’t wash out this heavy pain
After every storm there should be a rainbow
Our storm was never ending, eventually dying out
You are not to be blamed for this flood
Looking inside the house, your solemn expression visible
Once joyous, reminds me of simpler times
Looking at stars by the bay
Feeling your heartbeat when we hug
Your fiveoclock shadow when your cheeks touch mine
Reading on the living room couch
Painting the once bright bedroom walls
We were on a rollercoaster
Stuck at the very top, our own euphoria
How foolish to believe we would never come back down
