Lost

I feel so ashamed,
There's no one to blame but myself.
Excruciating pain,
I try to scream but nothing comes out.

And I'm so far from where I thought I'd be,
My thoughts won't let me escape from me,
I tear myself down, I wear myself out,
And I'll cry when no one's around

Everything I had was taken away,
What felt like was less than a day,
And left me hopeless,
Yeah, it left me hopeless.

And I'm so far from where I thought I'd be,
My thoughts won't let me escape from me,
I tear myself down, I wear myself out,
And I'll cry when no one's around

Something's got to give,
Because I can no longer live,
In hurt and despair, and not belonging anywhere...

Because I'm so far from where I thought I'd be,
I've been my own worst enemy.
I tear myself down, I wear myself out,
I'm lost and want to be found.

This Poems Story

My name is Eden and I am from Pike County, IL. Poetry has always been my primary coping mechanism, along with music. The poetry I write comes up deep within me and bares my soul. I've been writing poetry since I was eleven years old and I'm almost twenty-seven now. This poem is just a chip off the proverbial iceberg. I hope you enjoy a little piece of my heart and soul.
