I was locked in a cage
And my heart was put in a box that was just out of reach,
I wept and wept and wept until there was nothing left.
My tears corroded the bars of my prison away
And carried my heart further away,
I searched for it for months that turned into years,
I gave up hope and settled down in a house of grey.
One day a box was left on my doorstep,
In the box was my heart that I had lost so long ago,
And when I put it back in place I felt it beat,
It beat like a herd of wild horses, finally free from captivity.
