Lost Within Herself

By

To myself, I am a stranger
Who I was, no longer am I sure
Hauntingly familiar, unfamiliar
I can’t say, I can’t remember
Let me consult my notes
I am somewhere on these pages
Lost again between the corners
Of movies without sound
While walking out in front of traffic
Staring blankly at the woman yelling
Stop
Let me write that down
Frozen, I stare
Deer in headlights, girl lost
Facade, fabricating
Normal, normality
Smile, nod politely
Ears, hearing nothing
Shrinks, shrieking
In labyrinths of languished despair
Stop
Let me write that down
Fragmented life, on these pages
Somewhere, frantically scribbled
Girl lost, reiterating herself
Skipping record, residing within a stranger
