Loud

I used to be quiet
Pushover, nobody, silent
I would let you walk all over my back
Maybe you’ll find the knife that you left in it

You told me to find my voice
To learn how to defend myself
And my name
To know my worth

Now, I’m loud
I’ll burst your eardrums
And not give a damn
I’ll fight

I’ve bloodied my fists before
I’ll protect myself
I’ve crawled my way up from hell
The dirt is still beneath my nails

But you don’t like this
Claim I’ve got an “attitude”
How come you want me to stand up for myself
Until I stand up to you?
