Love Aches

How sickening is the sound of a yearning heart.

Why must it crave such fragile things?

Does it want to feel the pain love can bring?

The sweet illusion can be shattered with one remark!

They say without the world would go dark,

But why would I want to live under a light that stings,

A light that can bring me to cry or tragically sing?

Love is a weakness that will leave horrid marks!

Yet I am human, and the feeling grows and aches.

I protest against this dreaded wish,

For how could I ever want a kiss?

It feels wrong to want the happiness love can create,

Or a bond that can send me into joyous bliss.

Do I dare leap, or will I forever break?
