Love Chains

I am a bird, not meant to stay
I'll build my nest and fly away
Don't touch me, for you'll burn
I'll leave a scar, you've had your turn
But I have no wounds, I wore no chains
Though your pain, leaves mirror stains
It started red, then faded grey
A book should never end this way
I was fooled. You weren't alone
I thought my heart had maybe grown
But this fear, it bites my bone
I will never call you home
I was prisoner once to my own path
A place with lost despair and piercing wrath
I can't get close, my midas touch
Gold holds no more value than dust
