Love is a Sickness

since I saw her standing there
life grew vastly brighter
the golden locks upon her hair
shone more than any lighter

her eyes would glisten bright and blue
her soft voice was sublime
but sickness slowly took control
of shortening our time

I knew the day was coming
but the fear inside me fled
when I gazed upon her smile,
so I never thought her dead

But eluding death could not be done
and God knows I have tried
I lived each day in horror
then, one fateful day, she died

since I saw her lying there
life grew vastly dimmer
her golden locks will shine no more
her eyes will never glimmer

now she is gone, and I am too
there’s nothing more to say
until I meet her once again
upon my Judgement Day
