Love Silenced

In moments unaware he watched
Her graceful dance to mundane chore
While supple hands caressed
Wood and stone and steel

Then bend to gently wipe the tear
Of wayward childhood escapade
Lyrical laughter floats away
Like dust motes stirred in frenzy

Wrecked in heart and matters sore
His eyes admired in secret
Memory stores the vision set
But words denied their season

She turns and sways with broom and cloth
He drifts in dreams of dancing
Soft slope and curve of her divine
Held gently by the evening

Moments stolen unbeknown
As she yearned to know his pleasure
Love held hostage by pride displayed
My Mother and my Father
