Love Song To A Young Farm Wife

If I could be
one moment in your day

I'd choose
dawn light
when half asleep
you pour that first
sweet cup of coffee
and barefoot
stretch
to hang the feeders out
for cardinals and finches.

Failing that
I'd choose
the evening hour
when newly bathed
arms lifted
you let the summer nightgown
blue-sprigged and weightless
float down
to settle on your shoulders.
