Love Wins

Five years ago, when I was a little girl,
I would lay in my bed thinking my dad was a bad person,
All I could think was that he lied to me,
I did not think twice about it,
I would yell and scream at him,
I would tell him that I didn't care about him,
I could only imagine a life
Where I got along with him,
I would get told bad stories that would crush me,
I would tell myself that I would never like him,
He was a liar.

At least that is what I thought
I treated him bad
Very bad for many years,
I did not know that I would ever care,
I didn't know that people could lie so much,
But I guess that is just life
I would have never thought that one day I would feel guilty about it,
I did not think the truth would come out so violently
But I guess the truth really does hurt,
It hurts really bad
Like a pain in my heart that will not go away,
Life has a lot of lies that pile up like paper,
The truth must come out sometime slowly but surely.
