I'd waited so long for that day,
The day I became a teenager,
The day I could watch PG-13 movies.
I was so excited to grow up,
I threw a party at a hotel
So I could feel older.
And I made sure my parents
Stayed mainly out of sight
For a good part of the night.
But even then,
I was still a kid inside
Who loved riding the elevator
A billion times.
And then when the cake came out,
And it was time to make a wish,
I didn't know what to wish for,
I was just happy I was thirteen.
