Lying Awake

Step by step I take.
Each night I lie alone awake.
Thoughts of the forsaken.
Thoughts of the untrue.
These thoughts that make me think of you.

This life is not forgotten.
This life I can't forget.
These Lost moments in time,
They grasp unforgiving neglect.

Timeless amounts of reflection.
Countless years of deception.
Creation of a poisoned mind cursed in fear and rejection.

Here lies a soul deep in life's struggle and defeat.
Why is it that you enslave me with your unrelenting fleet?

The string that holds me, forever lingers near by,
Ashamed, broken awaiting to die.

Never to imagine a mind that is free to fly,
No forgiveness, just a goodbye.

As this masked prisoner trapped in an endless abyss,
Being awake in darkness can never be endearingly missed.

As time unravels it holds true that there's no escape.
For me, which is really you.
