Lying to a Child

"I'm going to get help, sweetie."
Biggest lie an alcoholic, drug addict can tell a child;
how easily they are convinced.
"I'll be a good dad, one you deserve."
Second biggest lie I've ever heard.
Lying to a child is easy as can be-
just fill them full of hope, then crush their dreams.
They'll keep loving you until the end;
they'll love you until their hearts
cannot handle the breaking anymore.
All the"superhero" images they had of you
will lie shattered on the floor.
Don't be surprised, dear Daddy, when your daughter stops caring-
she had to give up on you so her heart would stop hurting.
