Major or Minor

Music from these strings of metal sing,
Out of this box of wood shall sound.
The fingers how they change the tune,
High and low, high and low.

Like an ebbing stream, these notes they flow,
Soon turning into chords upon chords.
Major of minor;
Major or minor.

Still fingers dance and the strings sing,
Now voices come to accompany.
Shaping the soul of the song,
The two are complete when together.

Each one compliments the other,
Harmony in perfect time.
Major or minor?
This is major.

Soon these voices fade away,
Leaving the strings to sing alone.
Major or minor?
This is minor.

But this beautiful song must end,
Slowly, slowly the fingers stop.
The last note sounds as it is done,
Major or minor; major or minor.
