Malka

This is a poem to you, my dear mother-in-law,
Who was taken away from us far too soon.
This is in memory of your beauty,
Your tall stature, and your green eyes.
This is a tribute to your understanding,
Your determination, and your humility.
This is in honor of the time we had together,
And for the laughter and companionship, we shared.
Your strength and courage amazed me,
And your logic and reason guided me.
Your children admired you,
And I cherished you.
I wish I had more time to spend with you,
And learn from your wisdom and grace.
I wear the pearl ring you gave to me,
And feel warmth in the shawl that you knitted for me.
I go through life thinking of what you taught me.
And because of you, I am a better person.
This is a poem to you, my dear Mama Malka,
Because I miss you every day.
