Mask

There's a mask where honesty once dwelled.
I used to know you loved me, now your feelings are veiled.
There is a mask where your heart once beat for me.
Now I feel so much missing, you I no longer see.
There's a mask over every word you say;
Nothing can be taken seriously in this relationship today.
I'm wise enough to know the mask is to shield your true feelings.
I'm wise enough to see beyond the mask you wear.
Reach out, let me take away your pain.
Open up and shout how you feel!
Love conquers and heals any wounds life has inflicted.
Touch me as you used to do.
Let me help you once again begin to love and live!

This Poems Story

I have been an educator for forty-six years and am happily married with two children and three fantastic grandchildren. I have written poetry since the age of ten and welcome the opportunity to be featured in this special edition anthology. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, working on social action issues, improving youths' cultural exposure and educational aspirations, and contributing to projects to help the less fortunate in the USA and around the world as an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
