May

The sun turns its cheek revealing its bouquet
One cloud of many as down wings allowed
Such as in a blustering crowd
When the swan's away, the ducks will play

A time for rainbows while shadows flay
After the hilly grade and before the browed
Until they paint Fate's bruises proud
And redeem the unpredictable day

Union to salvation to dissolution to clay
Life hangs in the balance of a suffocating shroud
The earth throbs rhythmically and pulses aloud
As the rains play their part and collect their pay

The ghost of May has passed the current
And lives to last the waves concurrent
